In November 2024, Sandra Morno, Founder of SSBM Consulting joined forces with Abambyh Business Coaching for our signature 23-Hour Collab service. As an experienced tax professional, Sandra, Sandra had recently transitioned her business model to specialize in expat tax consulting. While she continued serving her long-term clients, she was eager to secure her first ideal client within this new niche. By the time our pre-collab call ended, she already had three promising leads. (Spoiler alert: just weeks into the collab she already had her first ideal client!) This transformation began with a deep dive into her vision and goals, laying the groundwork for the structured action plan that followed.

Abambyh Business Coaching has hosted some fantastic retreats, and each has been unique, with a different theme, a different focus, different activities. The inspiration for each of Abambyh Business’s retreats came in a lightning-bolt moment, and that's exactly how our next retreat, Exhale: For the Burnt-Out Entrepreneur, was born. This retreat is unlike anything Alison and Abambyh have hosted before. It’s as much for her as it is for the attendees, which is why she’s been carefully selecting a pace and activities that she knows will help her fully relax and rejuvenate. That’s why so many women have already been drawn to it. Even before Exhale was officially announced to the public, we quietly opened registration in September 2024, and seven of the fifteen available slots were claimed within the first week. The retreat was one-third sold out before it had even been mentioned to Alison's subscribers!

Relocating to a new town can feel like starting from scratch—not just personally, but professionally as well. Whether you’re an entrepreneur growing a service-based business or a consultant scaling operations, the challenges remain the same: how do you build a client base in a completely unfamiliar environment? Bayron and I both faced this challenge head-on as we relocated multiple times across South America. Our experiences show that strong fundamental business skills, no matter where you are in the world, form the foundation for sustainable success.

Acknowledging what's going right is a powerful exercise. It's easy for our brains to gravitate toward what’s going wrong – all that negative shit, but it's proven (have you read The Secret?) that we attract more of whatever we're focusing our attention on.

So, let's forget the negative and take a moment to really think about what's going well in our lives. What are you doing that you're absolutely kicking ass at? Acknowledge those accomplishments! Encourage yourself, motivate yourself, and praise yourself while creating this list.

The conclusion of Alison's Journey so far...

After RESTORE, Alison realized she desperately needed downtime. She and her husband took two weeks off to regroup, and it was the best decision she could have made at that point. After every subsequent retreat, Alison has repeated this step, taking time off to replenish herself and care for her relationships after the stress and emotions of the hard work she undertook.

Back to the story of Abambyh Business Coaching...

Alison was devoting more time than she had anticipated to her business coaching. Though the month-to-month agreements with each of her four clients were loose arrangements rather than formal contracts, she was taking the work very seriously. Personalized growth plans for each woman and her respective business required a lot of resources and effort. 

CONNECT was different.

Abambyh Business’s previous retreats had been amazing, too. Intense growth occurred, satisfaction and confidence bloomed, and crucial knowledge was imparted. During RESTORE, experiences were shared and business methods were learned, along with essential skills for effective communication. With IMMERSION, development catapulted forward, new businesses were launched, and incredible personal strides were taken. During both retreats, bonds formed, and friendships were founded.

I'm not a tax preparer, but I am a business owner. One of the first things I did for myself when I started Abambyh Business Coaching was to set up a QuickBooks account. I also have conversations with many of my clients about getting their own QB accounts because it streamlines so much and is an enormous aid in organizing data. Abambyh became Alison's AIM username. Then her email address. Then her username for other apps. Eventually the name took over. (At one point during a family dinner with aunts, uncles, and cousins, the group began asking about it, "What is Abambyh!?" They would try to pronounce it. She just kept saying, "It's not a word!")

In 2019, Alison Hartrum had everything she thought she’d wanted. Between her corporate job and rental properties, she was making between $200k and $250k per year. She wasn’t yet thirty years old, but she was already in an excellent place in her career; her income was substantial (even considering the $555,000 in mortgages she was paying off), and being single and childless, her responsibilities other than work and property ownership were few.

IMMERSION was a very different retreat from RESTORE. While RESTORE brought together fifteen women to take a look at business fundamentals and emotional intelligence in a series of intensive group sessions, IMMERSION was, by design, a much more intimate and even more intensive event.
